Coach Shatel is entering his 18th season as the head coach of the Green Wave. During his tenure, the Delbarton Baseball program has established itself as one of the most respected teams in the northeast. His teams have won 11 conference titles, 9 morris county tournaments, 5 sectional titles, and 2 overall state championships. Coach Shatel's record as the head coach of the Green Wave is 377 wins - 116 losses - 2 ties. In 2017, his team won the state championship and Shatel was named Coach of the Year by USA today.
In 2019, his team won the state championship and finished #11 in the national rankings. In 2019, Anthony Volpe and Jack Leiter were both selected by the N.Y. Yankees. In that same year, the Star Ledger named Shatel as one of the top 99 high school coaches of all-time. In 2024, he was inducted into the NJSCA Hall of Fame and was named the N.Y. Pro Scouts Coach of the Year. His overall record between his time at Roxbury HS and Delbarton School is 450-160-2.
