The 2025 season was Coach Shatel’s 24th as the Delbarton Head Ice Hockey Coach. During this period, Shatel has posted an impressive record of 517 wins, 90 losses, and 46 ties, for a winning percentage of .852. He is the all-time winningest coach of this highly respected program. His Delbarton teams are best known for their work ethic and discipline.
During his tenure, Delbarton has established themselves as one of the preeminent high school hockey teams in Northeast. They have won 12 State Championships, 10 Gordon Cups, 13 Gordon Conference titles 3 Mennen Cups, and 3 Mennen Division titles. Most importantly, many of Shatel’s players have committed to play at the next level at some of the finest colleges in the Northeast.
In 2018, the Star Ledger named him as one of the most influential people in New Jersey high school sports and one of the top 99 New Jersey High School coaches of all time. In January, he was inducted into the NJCA Hall of Fame. He is also the head baseball coach.
