David Donovan

David Donovan has been Delbarton varsity soccer coach since 1993. With a career record of 570-90-33 (through 2024), he remains the most successful NJ soccer high school coach as measured by combined NJSIAA state titles and winning percentage. During his tenure, Delbarton has won 8 state, 14 county, and 26 conference championship titles. A former coach of Team East in the National All-American Game, he is a recipient of NJSIAA's Award of Honor (2003) for his contribution to the sport of soccer in the state and was inducted into the Columbia High School Soccer Hall of Fame (2005) and the NJSIAA Hall of Fame (2006).

Coach Donovan holds Premiere, DOC, and National Goalkeeping Licenses from the USC and has been hosted by training academies across 5 continents, being the only US coach invited to represent the US at the Beijing Cup. A NJ native, Donovan was 3x 1st Team All-State, All-American, and NJ Player of the Year (1986) before playing at Ivy powerhouse Brown University.
