Andrew Sherwood is in his 9th season as Head Track and Field Coach of the Winter Track team and his 6th season leading the Spring team, after serving as an assistant coach in both seasons since 2014. Under Coach Sherwood's leadership, the track teams have won numerous Morris County track championships from freshman and sophomore teams, through varsity relays and overall team titles. The spring track team has won the NJAC United Division title from 2016-2024 with an overall record of 14-2 led by Coach Sherwood. In 2023, the spring track team received the NJAC Sportsmanship award. Coach Sherwood has led individual athletes to numerous non-public state titles, Meet of Champions victories, All-American podiums, and national titles in their respective events. Delbarton track and field athletes go on to compete at top athletic and academic institutions to continue their track and field pursuits. In addition, Coach Sherwood is an assistant Cross Country coach under Collin Frost and previously coached varsity football under Brian Bowers.
Coach Sherwood is a 2009 graduate of The College of the Holy Cross where he competed on the football, diving, and track and field teams. The Crusaders football team awarded him the Axelson Award in 2009. As a 2005 graduate of Unatego High School, he amassed 13 varsity letters, won the 2005 state wrestling championship at 171 pounds, and was named the WCDO Athlete of the Year. He is a New York State Section IV Athletics Hall of Fame inductee in the class of 2018.
Coach Sherwood is a member of the English department, is the senior class moderator, and an advisor. Andrew and his wife Stephanie are the proud parents of two sons, River and Webb.
