Brendan McSorley '20 was named Gatorade New Jersey Soccer Player of the Year today, making him the first soccer player in school history to earn this prestigious award.
The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, distinguishes McSorley as New Jersey's best high school boys soccer player.
The Providence College bound graduate scored 16 goals and had 10 assists to lead the Green Wave to another Morris County Tournament title and an appearance in the NJSIAA Non-Public A semifinal. Brendan is a two-time First-Team All-State honoree and he participated in the Allstate All-America Cup last July. Brendan concluded his Delbarton soccer career with 45 goals and 34 assists, finishing as a co-captain this year for Coach Donovan's squad.
Brendan is now a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year award to be announced later this month.
Congrats Brendan on this incredible honor and best of luck in the fall at Providence College! Go Green Wave!
