The Green Wave varsity soccer team has advanced to the Morris County Tournament semifinal with a hard fought 3-1 win over Mountain Lakes on Saturday, October 15.
Delbarton opened the scoring in the first half, when
Joshwin Jennings found the loose ball and ripped a shot passed Lakes goalie Ian Falconer for the 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute of play. Less than 30 seconds later,
Luca Tusche found the ball on the left side of the field scored off some confusion in front of the net for the 2-0 goal. Jennings would earn the assist for his 3rd point of the game. Â
In the second half, Mountain Lakes would score in the 62nd minute to cut the lead in half, but less than a minute after the goal, Delbarton would put away Mountain Lakes for good as
Giuseppe Milelli would send a perfect pass across the box to
Josh Hepplewhite, who was waiting to put a header passed the goalie for a big 3-1 lead.
The game would finish 3-1 and Delbarton advancing to the county tournament semifinal.Â
Parker Smith was solid in net, making one save in the victory.
Delbarton will face Morris Hills on Tuesday, October 18 at 5pm at Mt. Olive High School in the tournament semifinal.
