The Green Wave Varsity Soccer team welcomed Chaminade, DeMatha and Notre Dame High School to Ryan Family Field last weekend for the annual Delbarton Soccer Invitational.
After a 1-0 double overtime win by Chaminade over Notre Dame, Delbarton opened its home scheduled with a 5-1 win over DeMatha.
Nate Zimmermann '23 had an offensive explosion and netting a hat trick in his first home game of his season year. Zimmermann scored in the 7th minute off a crazy deflection and scored just 33 seconds later from a beautiful pass from
Joshwin Jennings '23. DeMatha answered in the 13th minute to cut the Green Wave lead in half, but Delbarton answered for a 4-1 lead at the half.
Shea Coughlin '24 scored on an assist from
Kevin Cull '23 in 26th minute and was followed up by Giuseppe Milleli '24's first varsity goal from
Nate Zimmermann '23 in the 31st minute.
Nate Zimmermann completed his hat trick on a free kick in the 53rd minute to ice the game.
Parker Smith made 2 saves before being replaced by
Tiarnan Nowak who made 1 save in relief.
Delbarton dropped the second game of the invitational to Chaminade 3-2 on a sloppy, raining afternoon at Ryan Field. Delbarton opens the NJAC schedule on Tuesday, September 13 against Morristown at Ryan Family Field. Game time set for 4pm.
