The Green Wave soccer team improved to 3-2 Thursday afternoon, defeating rival Mendham 3-0 in a complete performance on both sides of the ball.
Delbarton got on the board early with
Joshwin Jennings '23 scoring on a
Nate Zimmermann '23 assist from the edge of the six yard box in the 3rd minute on the first half. Zimmermann's offensive night was not finished there as he continued his red hot start to the season. In the 18th minute, Zimmermann scored on a left footed strike from just outside the eighteen yard box on a pass from
Luca Tusche '23 to put Delbarton up 2-0. That score would remain as Delbarton took a 2-0 lead to the half.
Ryan Zangara '25 would put the game away for good, scoring on a pass from Zimmermann to net his first goal in the green and white in the 76th minute to seal the 3-0 victory. Zimmermann finished the game with a goal and two assists for a big 4 point night.
Zimmermann is off to an incredible start this year, with 7 goals and 3 assists for 17 points in only five games.
Parker Smith was solid in net, making 7 big saves for his first shutout of the season.
On the lower levels, it was a clean sweep for Delbarton, with all three levels shutting out Mendham. JV won their game 7-0, whil the freshman team also had a great showing, winning by a 5-0 score!
