On September 21, Delbarton won against Chatham in a dramatic fashion. The two teams were deadlocked at the end of regulation and quickly headed into overtime. By the second overtime period, senior Luca Tusche '23 scored bringing the Green Wave to victory. Josh Hepplewhite '23 made a fantastic move outside the 18-yard box where he got a shot on goal which was sadly kept out of the net by a diving save as the ball ricocheted off the goal post. Tusche pounced on the rebound as he stuck the ball into the back of the net. "It was a great feeling to get the OT game-winner. It was a long game and tough battle, but we did it. I am so proud of how the team pulled together to get the win. Where there's a will, there's a way," said Tusche.
In the lower levels, the JV soccer team defeated Chatham with a score of 2-1. In the first half, Delbarton took a penalty kick which was slotted calmly in the right corner by team captain
Ryan Hunt '24. The penalty was won by
Logan Kim '25 who beat his defender and was taken down.
Reid Comeaux '24 strategically anchored the net for the Green Wave by making numerous saves during the game however Chatham was able to break through in the second half scoring their first point of the game. Luckily,
Ryan Hunt chipped in the game-winning goal in the second half to give the Green Wave the victory. To round out the day with a three-way victory, the freshman soccer team beat Chatham by a score of 4-3.
It was a great day for all the Green Wave Soccer teams as they prepare for the weekend ahead with games against Randolph on Saturday.
