The Green Wave improved to 3-1-1 overall on Tuesday, September 19, defeating Chatham 3-2 at Ryan Family Field. The Green Wave sent 12 shots on net Tuesday, with five players earning points in the victory.
Delbarton shut down Chatham in the first half, creating a few big scoring chances, but couldn't put one past Chatham goalie Jack Paone. In the second half,
Andrew Casiano immediately opened the scoring, putting in a rebound from
Brady Hyland in traffic after a corner kick for the 1-0 Delbarton lead. In the 44th minute, the Green Wave would double its lead when
Ryan Zangara one-touched a perfectly placed shot past the goalie of a beautiful feed from
Ysamo Miyasato.
Chatham would cut the lead in half 2-1 8 minutes later, but the Green Wave would answer back. Senior co-captain
Shea Coughlin would score his third of the season and second penalty kick goal of the season, for the 3-1 lead. Chatham would score once more in the 71st minute, but that would be all for the Cougars as Delbarton held on for the 3-2 home victory.
