In their regular season finale, Delbarton soccer clinched an impressive 5-2 win over Mount Olive, fueled by stellar performances from Owen Miller, Dylan Mazzarella, and Liam McElderry.
The first half showcased Delbarton's dynamic offense. Owen Miller struck first, finding the net in the 21st minute off an assist from Henry Kovacs to give Delbarton the lead. However, Mount Olive answered back swiftly, leveling the score just a minute later. Not deterred, Delbarton pushed forward, with Dylan Mazzarella scoring in the 30th minute, assisted by Miller, reclaiming the lead at 2-1. Just four minutes later, Miller scored his second goal of the game, thanks to a setup by Mazzarella, bringing the halftime score to 3-1.
Mount Olive narrowed the gap with a goal in the 66th minute, but Delbarton kept their composure and answered back late in the second half. Liam McElderry extended the lead to 4-2 with a goal in the 76th minute, assisted by Miller, and sealed the victory three minutes later with another goal, this time from a pass by Ryan Zangara. Keeper John Fodor made one save in the victory for Delbarton, who now turns its attention to the 2024 NJSIAA Non Public A tournament. The Green Wave open the quarterfinal round on November 8 against the winner of Newark Academy and Don Bosco.
