2024-25 Bowling Season Preview

As the Delbarton Green Wave bowling team prepares to hit the lanes for the 2024-25 season, expectations are sky-high for a group determined to leave its mark in the NJAC-East and beyond. Returning four varsity starters from a squad that reached last year's sectional finals, the Green Wave aims to build on its 12-11 record and bring home significant hardware, including a sectional title, the NJAC tournament, and the Morris County tournament.

Returning Stars Lead the Charge
The heart of the Green Wave's roster is undoubtedly its returning varsity quartet. Leading the team is captain David Reale, who finished last season with the 58th-best average in New Jersey and holds the school records for highest series (767) and tied for the highest game (279). Reale's leadership both on and off the lanes sets the tone for a close-knit team that thrives on unity and resilience.  Joining him are Connor and Matt Tyrone, along with Steven Corcoran, all of whom bring critical experience and consistent performance to the team. Their chemistry and collective drive make them a formidable core, poised to challenge any opponent.  The Green Wave welcomes two new full-time varsity players this season: Cole Dionyssiou and Dylan Scarpati. Both have prior varsity experience and are eager to make their mark as regular starters. Their inclusion adds depth to a lineup already brimming with talent, ensuring that Delbarton is well-equipped to tackle a grueling schedule.

A Season of Opportunity
The team's journey began on November 25 with practices, followed by their first tournament, the Greg Rottengen Memorial, on December 2nd. Over the course of the season, Delbarton will participate in eight tournaments and more than twenty matches, providing ample opportunities to showcase their skill on big stages. Key events such as the Morris County tournament offer a chance to turn high expectations into trophies. The Green Wave's regular season features tough in-conference battles against rivals Montville and Kinnelon. After splitting matches with Kinnelon and dropping both to Montville last year, the team is eager for redemption. Additionally, out-of-conference match ups against powerhouse programs like Seton Hall Prep, and Bergen Catholic will test Delbarton's mettle and help prepare them for postseason success.  The team will even head to Mineola this season to bowl against Chaminade.

Strength in Unity
What sets the Delbarton Green Wave apart is their unwavering determination and unparalleled team unity. Head coach, Coach Kane, now in his ninth year at the helm, emphasizes the team's "never say die" mentality as its greatest strength. "This group sticks together through thick and thin," Coach Kane remarks. "They play for each other and rise to the occasion when it matters most."

With talent, leadership, and a clear vision for success, the Green Wave enters the 2024-2025 season as a team to watch in the NJAC-East. Whether it's the quest for a sectional title, an NJAC tournament win, or a dominant showing at the Morris County tournament, Delbarton is primed to make waves.  As the season unfolds, one thing is certain: the Green Wave is rolling with purpose, aiming to cement its place in Delbarton bowling history.
