Delbarton opened its Morris County Tournament defense with a strong 4–1 victory over Parsippany Hills on Tuesday afternoon. The Green Wave were powered by two goals apiece from Owen Miller and Aidan Abere, while Liam Murphy added two assists. Franco Piarulli and Peter Wynne each contributed an assist as well, and goalkeepers Vayun Swamy and Frank Zupa combined for two saves in the win.
Abere got Delbarton on the board 11:30 into the match, creating space in the box before firing a shot into the upper right corner for a 1–0 lead. Parsippany Hills responded with a well-placed free kick from 25 yards out to even the score at 1–1.
With six minutes left in the half, Miller gave Delbarton the lead for good, finishing a feed from Murphy under a diving goalkeeper to make it 2–1 heading into the break. The Green Wave carried that momentum into the second half as Abere struck again off a Wynne assist to extend the lead to 3–1. Wynne then set up Miller's second goal of the match with 17:40 remaining, sealing the 4–1 final.
Delbarton (now 8–3–1) advances to the Morris County Tournament quarterfinals, where they'll face Morris Knolls on October 14 at Ryan Family Field.
