Delbarton School's wrestling team showcased a strong performance on the opening day of the NJSIAA Individual Wrestling Championships at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City on March 6, 2025.
Out of the 14 wrestlers participating, the Green Wave have nine heading to the quarterfinals, while 4 are battling in the westlebacks beginning tomorrow morning. Â
Advancements to Quarterfinals:

106 pounds: PJ Terranova secured his spot in the quarterfinals with a technical fall victory in the opening round followed by 5-1 decision in the pre-quarterfinals. PJ faces #2 Killian Coluccio in the quarterfinals.

113 pounds: Top-seeded Cameron Sontz continued his dominant season by winning the preliminary round and pre-quarterfinals both by technical fall. Cam will face #8 Dom Digiacomo in the quarterfinals.

120 pounds: Fifth-seeded Tommy Marchetti advanced with a technical fall in his opening round, followed by a major decision in pre-quarters. His next opponent is #13 Joseph Pellicci.

132 pounds: Returning champion Ryan DeGeorge won his opening round by techfall before winning a close pre-quarterfinal with a 9-5 decision. Ryan faces #11 Santino Danise tomorrow in the quarters.

138 pounds: Top-seeded Chase Quenault earned two tech fall wins to open the tournament, 19-4 and 18-3. Chase will face #9 Gideon Gonzalez in the quarterfinal with a possible rematch against Carson Walsh looming if both make it through to the semifinal.

144 pounds: Nick Schwartz, in his first state tournament, won his opening match by pinfall, before securing a close 7-5 decision. Nick will face #3 Luke Geleta in the quarterfinals.

150 pounds: Jayden James continued his undefeated season with two easy victories, both by pinfall and under 40 seconds each. In the quarterfinals, Jayden faces #8 Joseph Ruiz.

165 pounds: Two-time champion Alessio Perentin easily won both of his matches by techfall. Alessio faces #8 Cole Pangborn in the quarters tomorrow.

190 pounds: CJ Betz opened with a pin, followed by a techfall win 21-6. CJ faces #4 Tanner Hodgins in a tough matchup tomorrow.

Braden Jones, who battled hard in two of his matches, but unfortunately was eliminated after a second loss today. Braden had an amazing freshman season, going 18-13, a district title and a region region title!
