The Green Wave Varsity Soccer team opened up the 2025 season with a 3-1 win over rival Mendham on Tuesday, September 9.
Delbarton got on the board early as
Cortland Martin made his varsity presence known, scoring the opening goal, deflecting a pass into the net for the 1-0 lead 7 minutes in. 28 minutes later, captain
Skanda Damaraju would sneak one of his own by the goalie for the 2-0 Delbarton lead. Â
With just 11 seconds remaining in the first half, the Green Wave received a corner kick and
Henry Kovacs placed a perfect pass in the box where
Liam Murphy sent a booming one-timer directly in the net for the 3-0 halftime lead. Â
In the second half, the Delbarton defense shined once again, holding Mendham to only 5 shots on goal. Substitute goalie
Frank Zupa made a beautiful penalty kick save to keep the score 3-0 before allowing Mendham's only goal on a ball that deflected off the crossbar and just over the line for the goal.

Sebastian Rubio combined for 4 saves in the victory, while
Will Antenen had 2 assists. Delbarton will host Randolph tomorrow, September 11 its second straigth home game of the season.
