Delbarton soccer bounced back in impressive fashion Wednesday afternoon, earning its first win of the season with a 3-0 shutout victory on the road at Chatham.

After dropping a tight 1-0 decision to Randolph in the season opener, the Green Wave responded with a complete effort on both ends of the field, getting goals from Cortland Martin, Henry Ferro and Matt Brusco while Vayun Swamy recorded his first shutout of the season in goal.

Delbarton broke through in the 40th minute when Charlie Cecchini found Martin, who curled a shot toward the upper-right corner of the goal. The Chatham keeper managed to get his fingertips on the ball but couldn't keep it out, giving Martin his first goal of the season and sending the Green Wave into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

The Green Wave wasted little time adding to the advantage after the break. In the 52nd minute, Martin delivered a great ball to Ferro on the left side. Ferro finished the opportunity to extend Delbarton's lead to 2-0.

Delbarton put the match away in the 72nd minute with an impressive individual effort from Brusco. The sophomore split a pair of Chatham defenders before slipping his shot underneath the diving goalkeeper for his first goal of the season and a 3-0 Green Wave advantage.

Swamy and the Delbarton defense took care of the rest, keeping Chatham off the scoreboard to secure the team's first clean sheet of the season. Swamy finished with two saves in the victory.

The win moves Delbarton to 1-1 on the young season and now prepare for a huge matchup on Friday against St. Augustine Prep.
