Delbarton soccer continued its strong run on Tuesday afternoon, earning a 4-0 NJAC victory over Mendham at Ryan Family Field for its fourth consecutive win.
The Green Wave broke through in the 14th minute on a set piece.
Cortland Martin delivered a corner into the box, where
Evan Johnson finished it for the opening goal and a 1-0 Delbarton advantage.
That lead held through halftime before the Green Wave offense took control in the second half.
Henry Ferro struck twice in a span of just three minutes to put the game away. Ferro scored in the 59th minute off a feed from Martin to make it 2-0 before the duo connected again in the 62nd minute. Martin assisted on both goals, giving him three assists on the afternoon.
Delbarton added one more in the 73rd minute when sophomore
Cole McLean scored the first goal of his Delbarton career.
Henry Cormier found McLean in front, and the sophomore ripped a shot past the Mendham keeper to extend the lead to 4-0.
At the other end of the field, Delbarton's defense continued its dominant stretch.
Vayun Swamy made one save before
Cole Abere entered in relief and added a save of his own to complete the shutout.
The clean sheet was Delbarton's fourth straight, with the Green Wave having not allowed a goal during its four-game winning streak. After dropping its season opener, Delbarton has responded with four consecutive victories and continues to build momentum on both ends of the field.
The Green Wave returns to NJAC action Thursday when it travels to Montville.
