Delbarton Cross Country continued its 2026 season Tuesday afternoon at the third NJAC Batch Meet of the fall at Greystone Park, turning in several strong performances as the Green Wave prepares for one of its biggest meets of the season.
Freshman Liam Johnson led the way for Delbarton in the varsity meet, crossing the finish line in 17:56.99. Behind Johnson, the Green Wave showed impressive depth and pack running. Ryan Leuenberger finished in 18:13.64, followed almost immediately by Lucien Bret (18:13.95), Todd Smith (18:14.34) and Matthew Heyer (18:14.50). Jonathan Gels followed in 18:29.68.
That gave Delbarton an incredibly tight spread among its No. 2 through No. 6 runners, with just over 16 seconds separating Leuenberger and Gels. Freshman Harry Smith also turned in a strong performance, finishing in 18:35.76.
The Green Wave split its two varsity duals on the afternoon, defeating Morris Knolls while falling by 5 points against Morristown. Delbarton topped Morris Knolls, 20-40, while Morristown edged the Green Wave, 25-30.
Delbarton also had a big afternoon in the Novice race. Isaiah Suh captured first place in 9:56, while teammate Jack McInerny finished runner-up in 10:12, giving the Green Wave the top two finishers in the race.
With another NJAC meet behind them, the Green Wave now turns its attention to the Shore Coaches Invitational on Saturday, where Delbarton will look to continue building toward the championship portion of the season.
