Entering his 21st season as Head Football Coach, Brian Bowers is once again prepared to lead the Green Wave in its long tradition of football excellence. Only the third Head Coach in the 76 year history of the Delbarton football program, Coach Bowers brings a tremendous amount of energy and enthusiasm to the job. Under Coach Bowers’ leadership, the Green Wave has won twelve conference championships, competed in five State Championship games - and sent scores of players on to prominent college football programs around the country. Coach Bowers was named the Morris County Football Coaches Association “Coach of the Year” in 2011 & 2020. This past spring Coach Bowers was presented with the “Distinguished Coach Award” by the National Football Foundation & College Football Hall Fame. Before being named HC in 2003, Bowers served as an assistant coach (Offensive Coordinator and Special Team Coordinator) for 6 years. Prior to arriving at Delbarton, Bowers coached at Williams College (1995), the University of Pennsylvania (1993 – 1995) and at Stony Brook University (1991 – 1992). Coach Bowers is a 1991 graduate of Union College (Schenectady, NY) where he played tight end. His 1989 Union College team played in the Division III National Championship (Stagg Bowl) game. Coach Bowers is a member of the History department and he currently teaches the Principles of Leadership course. Coach Bowers is also the Assistant Director of Athletics. Brian and his wife Melanie are the proud parents of three daughters - Lexi, Mary and Tessa.
