The Green Wave dropped to 4-4 on the season after a tough 21-10 loss to DePaul on Friday night in Wayne.
DePaul got on the board first, when Pat Grusser hit De'Zie Jones for a 14-yard touchdown, putting DePaul up 7-0 after the first quarter. The Green Wave would respond with a great drive, finishing with a 33-yard field goal by
Jack Peros for a 7-3 Green Wave deficit with 6:48 left in the half. Backup QB Derek Zammit would enter for an injured Grusser and led DePaul down the field, capped off by a 13-yard touchdown pass to Jones once again, taking a 14-3 lead into the half.
Delbarton would not go down quietly however, opening the third quarter with a drive that led to a Rob Russo to Phillip Folmar 7-yard touchdown, cutting the Spartan lead to 14-10. That would be all the scoring for Delbarton as DePaul would score once again with 3:29 left in the third quarter for a 21-10 lead and end score.
Russo finished with 87 yards passing and a touchdown.Â
Ryan Trafford had another solid game on the ground, rushing for 89 yards on 17 carries. On defense,
Dallas Hurley made 16 total tackles, including one tackle for a loss, while
Justin Slabaugh would have 10 total tackles.
Delbarton finishes the regular season this Saturday, October, 29 against St. Joe's in Montvale. Kick off is set for 1pm.
