The middle school hoops team, coached by
Tony Negrin, Michael Del Guercio and Jordan Hubbard, have had tremendous success this season, entering the county title game with a 10-2 record. On Thursday, February 3, the middle school boys defeated Totowa MS 47-35 in the semifinal of the county tournament, earning a spot in the county final. The boys will play the winner of Mendham and Lincoln Park in the championship game.
The boys opened the game with a very low scoring, defense-dominated first half, trailing 11-9 at the half. While the defense certainly kept the Grreen Wave in the game, the offense was off its mark from the outside, with Veer Dhall scoring 6 of Delbarton's 9 points in the half. Dhall also had 7 rebounds in the first half of play. The Green Wave turned it up in the second half, opening with a 10-0 run, with the help of Will Meehah who hit two three-pointers. Delbarton and Totowa went back and forth the rest of the game, but with less than two minutes left, Quinn Shannon was able to break Totowa's full court press and found Dara Corr for an easy layup, putting Delbarton up by 10 and securing the victory.
Meehan finished with 19 points, while Dhall has 12 points and 13 rebounds. Collin Pajunas had a solid game with 10 points 6 rebounds and 8 assists and Corr finished with 6pts, 5 rebounds and 6 assists.
Congrats to the boys on a great victory and best of luck in the title game! Go Green Wave!
