For the first time in 17 days, Delbarton's varsity baseball team returned home Monday to the friendly confines of Fleury Field and defeated Glen Rock HS 6-2.
Glen Rock entered the game with an impressive 11-2 record, but the pitching combination of Amir Eltaki (Sr, Yale), Ryan Holman (So), and Christian Zebrowski (Jr) held the Panthers to 2 runs on 6 hits.Â
Trailing 1-0 in the top of the 3rd inning, the Green Wave responded with 3 runs in their half of the inning. Zach McBride (Sr, Trinity) earned a walk and was driven to third on a double to left field by Louis Friedrich (Jr). Girffin Mills (Sr, Northwestern) then drove in McBride with a single and Aidan Dill (Jr, Seton Hall) brought Friedrich home on a squeeze bunt. The final and winning run came when Jack Harley (Jr, Rice) drove in Mills with a single. For the day, Kevin Hager (Sr, Cornell) went 3-4 with a run scored, and the team had 5 different players drive in runs.Â
Delbarton continues its home stand this week with a Wednesday afternoon game against Roxbury.
