In a commanding performance on Wednesday, October 16 at Ryan Family Field, Delbarton soccer secured a 4-1 victory over Morris Knolls in the Morris County Tournament quarterfinals. The Green Wave was led by standout performances from Liam Murphy and Liam McElderry, who both found the back of the net twice to propel Delbarton into the semifinals this Saturday.

Delbarton wasted no time taking control of the match. In the 9th minute, Liam Murphy opened the scoring, converting an assist from Evan Johnson to put Delbarton up 1-0. The momentum continued in Delbarton's favor when, in the 20th minute, Liam McElderry doubled the lead, making it 2-0 on a PK.

Morris Knolls managed to cut the deficit in half just five minutes later, as Thomas Becht capitalized to bring the score to 2-1 before halftime.

However, Delbarton responded emphatically in the second period. In the 47th minute, McElderry netted his second goal of the game, assisted by Liam Murphy, to extend the lead to 3-1. Murphy capped off a stellar night by scoring his second goal in the 56th minute, with an assist from Owen Miller, sealing the 4-1 victory.  Delbarton put 13 shots on goal, and the tandem of Sebastian Rubio and John Fodor combined to make 4 saves in the victory.

With this win, Delbarton advances to the tournament semifinal, where they will face off against Morristown on Saturday, October 19, at Mt. Olive High School.

Delbarton's solid defense and clinical finishing continue to make them a force in the tournament as they seek to defend their county title.
