The Delbarton Middle School soccer team wrapped up their season with a display of resilience and growth, embodying the spirit of teamwork in every game. Despite facing challenges, including a smaller-than-usual roster, these young athletes showcased dedication, fighting hard in every matchup. Though their record stands at 2-12, the season was filled with nail-biting finishes, with several games decided by only one or two goals. Every player gave their all, proving that victories aren't only counted in wins but in the heart and improvement shown along the way.
The team finished strong with an emphatic 8-2 victory over Kinnelon, turning a hard-fought first half into a commanding final half-hour. Alexander LaPuma got things rolling with an impressive long-range goal, and despite Kinnelon equalizing twice, Delbarton's offensive shined as they piled on six second-half goals. Jaiden Pierce's hat trick and Ryan Palombi's first-ever middle school goal were highlights, alongside stellar assists from LaPuma and Hudson Miele. Finlay White stepped up in goal, playing a crucial role as a stand-in keeper and showcasing remarkable adaptability for head coach Naina Horning. The victory against Kinnelon perfectly capped off a season defined by grit and determination, giving Delbarton's middle schoolers a taste of triumph earned through hard work and teamwork.
