The Giant Slalom (GS) State Championships unfolded on a picturesque Saturday, with blue skies and the sun casting its radiant glow on the snow. As inspection opened, our boys meticulously studied each turn, strategizing their approach to the course. After the initial run, we found ourselves trailing by a margin of 2.30 seconds, a significant gap in ski racing but one that could be bridged. With determination, the team entered the second run, understanding the need for speed.
The top three performers:
Ryan Johnson,
Louis Friedrich and Curt Friedric, maintained their consistency, setting the stage for a crucial performance from our fourth racer,
Liam Larson. With smooth and swift skiing, Liam shaved off about 2 seconds from his previous run, clinching a narrow victory by a mere .30 tenths of a second. It was an exhilarating triumph for the Green Wave at the GS State Championships, swiftly shifting our focus to the upcoming States Slalom (SL) race on Monday afternoon in Vernon.
Congrats to the boys on a tremendous team effort victrory.
