Delbarton Wrestling advanced to the NJSIAA Non-Public A championship with a decisive 37–15 semifinal victory over Bergen Catholic on Wednesday, continuing its strong postseason run.
The Green Wave set the tone early and steadily built separation throughout the lineup, earning wins in nine of the 14 bouts, including three technical falls, a major decision, and a key forfeit that helped swing momentum firmly in Delbarton's favor.
After Bergen Catholic grabbed the opening bout at 113 pounds, Delbarton responded emphatically at 120 as Cameron Sontz posted a dominant technical fall (19–4) to put the Green Wave on the board. Tommy Marchetti followed with a tight 4–3 decision at 126, helping Delbarton seize control of the dual.
At 144 pounds, Ryan DeGeorge earned a crucial 7–5 decision, rebounding from a 4-1 third period deficit and Delbarton then widened the gap when Nicholas Schwartz picked up a forfeit at 150. Close wins by Trevor Jones (157) and August Moser (285) showcased Delbarton's depth and composure in tight matches.
The turning point came in the middle weights, where Jayden James delivered one of the most commanding performances of the night, rolling to a technical fall (19–4) at 165 pounds. At 215, CJ Betz added another emphatic result with a technical fall (19–4), effectively sealing the team victory.
Delbarton closed the dual with authority at 106 pounds, as Finn Andersen capped the night with a 9–0 major decision, punctuating the Green Wave's dominant team effort.
With the win, Delbarton will now face Christian Brothers Academy on Sunday at Rutgers University for the NJSIAA Non-Public A state championship.
