Delbarton Baseball Regroups After Loss To Poly Prep

Delbarton split its last two games, dropping a tough road contest at Poly Prep before bouncing back in dominant fashion with an 8–0 win over Mount Olive.

On Saturday in Brooklyn, the Green Wave (11-3 at the time) fell 5–3 to Poly Prep in a game that slipped away early and ended in controversy late. Poly jumped out to a 5–1 lead through four innings, capitalizing on a pair of multi-run frames against starter Noah Morales, who allowed four earned runs over three innings. John Fedun steadied things out of the bullpen, tossing three strong innings while allowing just one run and striking out three to keep Delbarton within striking distance.

Delbarton chipped away late and nearly pulled off a dramatic comeback in the seventh. Trailing 5–1, the Green Wave loaded the bases on two hit-by-pitches and a walk before Finnian O'Loughlin and Ted Masino each drew RBI walks to cut the deficit to 5–3. With the tying run on base, AJ Saccento flew out and Danny Haggard struck out, bringing Curt Friedrich to the plate. Friedrich was then hit by a pitch that appeared to score a run and load the bases again, but the umpire ruled it intentional, awarding Poly Prep a strikeout to end the game and halt Delbarton's rally.

Lorenzo Maselli led the offense, going 2-for-3 with an RBI, while O'Loughlin and Masino each drove in runs during the seventh-inning push.

The Green Wave responded emphatically on Monday, improving to 12-3 with a complete 8–0 shutout of Mount Olive. Delbarton jumped out early with two runs in the first and never looked back, adding runs in five different innings while racking up 11 hits.

Maselli set the tone on both sides of the ball, delivering a complete-game shutout while allowing just four hits with three strikeouts and no walks. The efficient outing kept Mount Olive off balance all afternoon and gave Delbarton total control from start to finish.

Offensively, the Green Wave lineup produced up and down the order. Curt Friedrich paced the attack with a 2-for-3 performance and two RBIs, while Danny Haggard added two hits. Maselli, Ted Masino, and others contributed RBI production, and the team showed aggressiveness on the bases with four stolen bags. Connor Bresler also crossed the plate twice, helping fuel the balanced scoring effort.
