After a very successful freshman swim season, Jack Alexy '21 has been busy in the pool, looking to improve on what has already been a record breaking tenure at Delbarton. In his first year at Delbarton, Alexy lead Delbarton to an 11-1 record, helping the Green Wave win it's first Morris County title in 10 years. He qualified for the Meet of Champions in March and took home first-place in both the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke events. In November, Alexy participated in the USA Swimming Junior National Championship in Knoxville, TN, where he broke two NJ state records in both the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events. His times earned him #1 ranking in the country among 14-year old males. On July 12, Alexy earned 2017-18 NISCA/Speedo Boys High School Swimming All-American honors for his times in both the 100-yard backstroke (18thplace) and the 50 freestyle (63rd place). "I recently learned about my accomplishment of being named a High School Swimming All-American," says Alexy. "This accomplishment is a complete honor and it is a great example of Delbarton's integrity and respect. My fortunate success in swimming allows me to represent Delbarton and our outstanding swim team. This new title also exemplifies my love for the sport and is another chapter in my swimming career."
This summer, Alexy and Delbarton alum Jonathan Hua '18 traveled to Santa Clara, California to compete in the TYR Pro Swim Series. Jack and Jonathan raced against multiple Olympic medalists and world record holders from all around the country. At this meet, Jack qualified to compete in the 2020 Olympic Trials and was granted an opportunity to possibly earn a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team! After California, Alexy attended the Bolles Swim Camp in Jacksonville, Florida and trained there for two weeks. Returning home, Jack has continues to train for the end of the season meet in the beginning of August at the YMCA Long Course Nationals.
Congrats on all of your achievements Jack and we look forward to seeing you in the pool with your Green Wave teammates this winter!
