The Freshman Soccer team faced perhaps its toughest opponent of the year this past Saturday, when it faced Chaminade High School in Mineola. The Green Wave had plenty of chances to score, but none found the back of the net.
The first half ended on the losing end. Chaminade was fast, physical and athletic and was all over the Green Wave, never allowed them to turn with the ball and quickly countering
overwhelming our defense. Chaminade scored a goal off of a cross during the first three minutes of the game and never looked back. Delbarton had its chances to score with Ryan Zangara, Will Pedicano, and Luca Scotto all having good chances, but none found the back of the net. The first half ended with Delbarton down 2-0. The boys tried to rally, but Chaminade scored again early in the second half to essentially put the game away, adding another goal to go up 4-0.
Several boys played well in defeat included Luca Scotto who played tough at center half and Alex Meyer who was matched up against their best striker for most of the game. The team hopes to finish out the season strong against county rivals Morris Knolls, Mendham, Montville this week and Chatham in the final game of the season on October 28.
