The Delbarton Freshman Soccer Team, led once again by
John Thompson, is having a tremendous season on the pitch, winning 13 straight since dropping its first game to St. Benedict's back in the first week of September.
On Wednesday, October 12,  the Green Wave improved to a 12-1 record with a 4-1 win over Hunterdon Central. Hunterdon Central came into the game with a 10-1 record, including a 9-0 win over state power Pingry. The freshman jumped out to a 2-0 lead at halftime despite a hard fought half by Hunterdon. Early in the second half, Hunterdon Central closed the gap to 2-1. The Green Wave pulled away with two goals in the second half to win soundly 4-1. Owen Miller, Ben Raab, Marcus Arthur, and Luc Guarino were stand out players in the victory.Â
On Saturday, October 15, the Green Wave faced one of the better programs on the East Coast in Chaminade, a program that beat our varsity team in the Delbarton tournament this year and beat the freshman team 5-1 at their place last season. This year, the Delbarton freshman team turned the tables on Chaminade with a convincing 3-1 win on Ryan Family Field. The team had to make up for the loss of star striker and leading goal scorer Henry Kovacs who was unable to attend the game, however, the team played at a high level nonetheless jumping out to a 3-0 lead at halftime and finishing out the game with a 3-1 win and all 27 players in attendance playing in the game. Franco Piarulli and Dylan Palenthchar played outstanding games helping to make up for the loss of Kovacs with Piarulli scored twice in the first half. The team has now won 13 games straight after dropping its opener to St. Benedicts 2-0. Â
