On an unseasonably warm and sunny Saturday afternoon at Regan Stadium, Delbarton defeated St. Joe's Metuchen 42-6 in the opening round of the NJSIAA Non-Public A playoffs.
The Green Wave got off to a quick start with
Robert Russo '23 finding Philip Fulmar '25 for a 35-yard touchdown early in the first quarter.
Ryan Trafford '24 would add to the Delbarton lead with a 15-yard touchdown run to put Delbarton up 14-0 after the first quarter.
Austin Quandt '24 would intercept a St. Joe's pass and
Ryan Trafford '24 would add a second touchdown on the ground for a commanding 21-0 lead. Philip Fulmar had the play of the day, returning a St. Joe's punt 65 yards for his second touchdown to put Delbarton up 28-0 heading into halftime.
Brock Dandridge '25 scored on the ground in the 3rd quarter and
Joseph Skuraton '25 broke off an 84-yard touchdown run to ice the game late in the 4th quarter. It was a great effort on all three sides of the ball as the Green Wave easily advance to the quarterfinal round against St. Peter's Prep.
The Green Wave will play at St. Peter's Prep on Friday November 11 under the lights in Jersey City. Kick off is set for 7pm. Congrats on the win and best of luck in your preparation for the rematch against St. Peter's Prep!
