Delbarton Football opened its 2026 season in impressive fashion Saturday afternoon, earning a 21-0 road victory over Gilman School (MD) behind a dominant rushing attack and a shutout performance from the Green Wave defense.
Quarterback Gavin Gilardi gave Delbarton a 14-0 first-half lead with a pair of one-yard touchdown runs. Both scores were set up by explosive carries from senior running back Kobe Irby-Mason, who powered the offense with 223 rushing yards on 20 attempts.

After a scoreless third quarter, Irby-Mason sealed the victory with a two-yard touchdown run in the fourth, extending the Green Wave advantage to 21-0. It was his first touchdown of the season and capped a commanding afternoon for Delbarton on the ground.

Gilardi finished 3-of-7 passing for 38 yards while adding 13 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Dre Roberson contributed 56 yards on 10 carries, helping Delbarton control the pace of the game.
Jack Castellano led the receiving corps with two catches for 28 yards. John Trafford added a 10-yard reception that helped set up the Green Wave's second touchdown.

On the defensive end, Delbarton's relentless defense was led by Vince Archilarre who had 12 tackles and one tackle for a loss.  Joe DeSilva, DJ Brown and Luke McBride also had tackles for a loss, while McBride also caused a fumble. On special teams, the Green Wave blocked a field goal attempt, thwarting any chance of Gilman putting points up on the board.

Delbarton will now prepare on a shortened week for its home opener against Erasmus Hall on Friday at 3 p.m.
