On Saturday, April 22, the Varsity lacrosse team traveled to Summit to take on the #7 ranked Hilltoppers. In what turned out to be a low-scoring defensive battle, the Green Wave escaped with a big 5-4 win, bringing its record to 7-2 this season.
Delbarton jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first quarter, but was held scoreless until the second half when the team exploded for three goals an an additional score in the fourth. Senior face-off specialist Nick Faccone (Lafayette) set a new career-high with 2 goals coming off quick wins at the X. Faccone also had three face-off wins in the victory. Vincent Ferrara (Sr, Gettysburg) finished with a goal and assist, and TJ Coffey (Sr, Quinnipiac) and Gray Doyle (Sr, Bates) added one a piece. Bobby Cusimano (So) and Jack Sartorius (Jr) rounded out the offense, with each having an assist on the day.
On the defensive side, the combination of Aidan Troy (Jr, Penn), who finished with 7 saves, Julian Radossich (Sr, Fairfield), Corbin Lukanski (Sr, Bucknell), John Finkeldie (Sr, Lafayette), Nick Dotro (Sr, Franklin & Marshall), and Jake Melchionni (Sr, Villanova) held Summit to its lowest offensive output of the year.
Coach Kovachik's team heads to Montclair on Tuesday to take on the Bulldogs at 4:30, followed by a matchup with out-of-state Chaminade on Saturday at 1pm in Long Island.
