Delbarton closed out its home schedule with an 8-7 victory over Fairfield Prep on Saturday, improving its momentum heading into a regular season finale showdown against top-ranked St. Augustine Prep on Wednesday.

The Green Wave came out fast offensively, building a 4-3 lead after the opening quarter before extending the advantage to 7-4 by halftime. Delbarton carried an 8-5 lead into the fourth quarter and held off a late Fairfield Prep push to secure the one-goal win.

Christian Troczynski led the way with two goals, including a beautiful finish from behind the net during the second quarter. The Green Wave also received goals from Dara Corr, Brandon Fodor, John Fodor, Chase Houser, Jack McGinn and Kane Quenault.

Brandon Fodor and Houser opened the scoring with back-to-back goals before McGinn extended the lead to 3-1. Corr then made one of the biggest plays of the afternoon, scooping up a ground ball and racing the length of the field for a goal that gave Delbarton a 4-1 advantage.

Quenault controlled possession throughout the afternoon, winning 12-of-14 faceoffs while also adding an assist. In goal, Matty McGinty turned aside nine shots to help preserve the victory.

Delbarton added an important insurance goal in the closing seconds of the third quarter when John Fodor carried the ball into the offensive zone and fired home a shot with just 0.8 seconds remaining on the clock, pushing the Green Wave lead to 8-5 entering the fourth.
