On Saturday evening the lacrosse team booked its ticket to the Morris County Championship game, defeating Randolph 14-6, setting up a showdown with Mt. Lakes on Tuesday night.
The Green Wave wasted little time getting on the scoreboard Saturday, scoring early and often, building a 6-1 lead by the end the first quarter. TJ Coffey (Sr, Qinnapiac) got things going one minute into the game when he found the upper right corner of the net. Coffey then doubled the lead 3 minutes later, before Randolph scored its only goal of the half. Jack Amato, Gray Doyle, Willie Doyle, and Spencer Shea responded with 4 goals in the next 7 minutes to build what turned out to be an insurmountable lead.
As with the previous MCT games, Delbarton dominated most if not all of all aspects of the game. The combination of Jamie Zupa (Jr), Nick Faccone (Sr, Lafayette) and Ryan Trafford (Jr, Navy) won 80% of the face-offs which prevented the Rams from ever building any momentum.
The Green Wave will play Mt. Lakes on Tuesday at Mt. Olive High School in a rematch of last year's championship game. Game time is set for 7:30pm. The team will then return to Cocoziello Field on Thursday when they host Seton Hall Prep.
