The team opened their campaign with a resounding 12-1 victory over non-public rival Pope John XXIII. The win served as a springboard for their ensuing success as they opened the season with five straight victories. Their next challenge came against conference foe Chatham. The team rallied together, executing flawlessly to secure a solid 12-5 win. This triumph was followed by a nail-biting encounter with Montville, where they showcased their resilience and came out on top with a slim 3-2 victory demonstrating an ability to execute in a close contest.
The team's confidence grew with each passing game, and they continued to dominate their opponents with offensive power and excellent pitching. A stellar 10-0 victory against Mount Olive demonstrated their offensive firepower and the pitching prowess that proved to be a key asset throughout the season. This impressive performance was followed by a commanding 9-3 win against crosstown rival Morristown. However, every journey has its ups and downs, and the team faced their fair share of challenges. A setback on the road to Shore Conference powerhouse Middletown South and subsequent loss to Don Bosco Prep saw them learn valuable lessons about resilience and the importance of bouncing back from defeat. Despite the losses, the team remained determined, harnessing the setbacks as fuel for improvement.
In a rematch against Chatham, the team once again demonstrated their ability to rise to the occasion. In a thrilling 4-3 victory, they showcased their grit and tenacity. Another dominant display against Roxbury resulted in a comprehensive 10-1 win, setting the record for fewest pitches ever thrown in a complete game!Â
The season continued to present its share of challenges, as the team engaged in hard-fought battles against formidable opponents. A narrow 2-3 loss to non-public rival Bergen Catholic showcased their fighting spirit, and they were determined to bounce back stronger. Although they faced another defeat against Don Bosco Prep in a time-limit shortened six-inning 5-8 loss. The JV team quickly bounced back with wins over Roxbury, Montville, and Mount Olive before the Don Bosco Invitational JV Tournament kicked off.
In a thrilling first-round match against archrival Seton Hall Prep, they showcased their mettle and emerged victorious with a 9-6 triumph, demonstrating their ability to rise to the occasion.
The team earned nice midweek wins over a strong Millburn team and Randolph before their semifinal tournament game. As the tournament progressed, the team faced a tough test in the semifinal against St. Peter's Prep. In a closely contested battle, they fought valiantly but fell short in an 11-13 loss.Â
Nonetheless, the Junior Varsity baseball team can look back on their season with immense pride and a sense of accomplishment. Their impressive overall record of 14 wins and 6 losses speaks volumes about their dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
