Delbarton Lacrosse Punches Ticket To Non Public A Final

On a smokey, hazy Tuesday afternoon, Delbarton came out on fire against Don Bosco in the NJSIAA Non-Public A semi-final, advancing to the state final with a 12-1 win.

Gray Doyle (Sr, Bates) and Jack Sartorius (Jr) started the scoring in the first quarter, picking up goals at the 10:42 and 5:53 marks to head into the second quarter with a 2-0 lead. In the second quarter, Delbarton exploded for 5 goals, the first of which came 6 seconds into the frame when Nick Faccone (Sr, Lafayette) won the faceoff and scored his 5th goal of the season. Sartorius, Doyle, Vincent Ferrara (Sr, Gettysburg), and Luke Carrillo (Jr) continued to add to the total pushing the lead to 7-0 by the end of the half.

The second half was more of the same. After a faceoff win, Julian Radossich (Sr, Fairfield) fired a shot off the post and Nick Dotro (Sr, Franklin & Marshall) collected the rebound to score his third goal of the season just 26 seconds into the half. By the end of the 3rd quarter, the Green Wave had built a 10-0 lead thanks to two more goals by Ferrara and Willie Doyle (Jr). Not to be outdone, Ryan Trafford (Jr, Navy) started the 4th by winning the draw and scoring in only 6 seconds. Spencer Shea (Sr, Holy Cross) then added the 12th goal of the game to make sure the clock did not stop running.

Coach Kovachik's team dominated every aspect of the game and never allowed the Ironmen to get a footing. The combination of Faccone, Trafford, and James Zupa (Jr) won 75% of the faceoffs. The Green Wave fired off 31 shots, while the defense limited Don Bosco to just 14. And when the shots did reach the net, Aidan Troy (Sr, Penn), Charlie Medd (Sr, Williams), and Patrick Roelke (Jr, Lafayette) were there to stop all but 1.

Delbarton will face Seton Hall Prep in the NJSIAA Non Public A Final on Saturday, June 10 at 2:00 pm on the neutral field at East Brunswick High School.  Tickets to the game can be purchased at https://www.njsiaa.org/tickets.
