The Green Wave swim team, ranked #9 in the NJ.com preseason poll, opened the 2025–26 season with an emphatic 133–26 victory over Pope John, sweeping 10 of 11 events and winning all three relays in commanding fashion.
Delbarton set the tone early with a strong performance in the 200 Medley Relay, as the quartet of Dom Narduzzi '27, Leo Backus '28, Femi Oshodi '26, and CJ Friends '29 grabbed first place in 1:52.31, giving the Green Wave immediate momentum.
The dominance continued in the freestyle relays.
Several individual performances highlighted the season debut:
Max Ciechanowski delivered a standout effort with two victories, winning the 200m Freestyle (1:56.39) and the 400m Freestyle (59.93).
CJ Friends also doubled, taking the 50m Freestyle (24.06) and 100m Backstroke (59.10).
East claimed the 100m Freestyle (56.36), while Femi Oshodi touched first in the 100m Butterfly (59.93).
Rounding out the Green Wave's individual wins, Ruhnke secured the 200 IM in 2:15.12.
With a deep roster contributing across the board and early-season form already taking shape, Delbarton now turns its attention to a major early test: a showdown with #3 Chatham, matching two of Morris County's top programs.
