Delbarton Lacrosse knew it would tested early and often this season, opening the year with games against two of the nations top 10 lacrosse programs. Delbarton opened its 2025 lacrosse season in a big way, edging out No. 5 Haverford School 10-8 on Saturday. The Green Wave put together a balanced offensive effort, dominated key possessions, and got a huge performance in goal to take down one of the nation's top-ranked teams.
Senior attacker Peter Falk led the way with a hat trick and an assist, while Gavin Romweber and Brandon Fodor each scored two goals. Jared Baudin, Jack Sheridan, and Chase Houser also chipped in with a goal apiece in the victory.
Christian Troczynski was a difference-maker at the faceoff X, winning 11 of 20 draws to help Delbarton control possession against a tough Haverford team. In net, Tanner Shimko was rock solid, making 12 saves and holding Haverford's high-powered offense to just eight goals, six in the final period of play.
Haverford, ranked No. 5 nationally by Inside Lacrosse, lived up to its reputation as a tough opponent. But Delbarton's preparation, execution, composure, and all-around team effort helped them come out on top in a tightly contested game.
With an early season test in the books, Delbarton will look to build on this momentum as they prepare for another challenging opponent. The Green Wave head to Connecticut on Wednesday to face #4 Brunswick School at 4:30pm.
Congrats on a big opening day victory and best of luck against Brunswick!
