Despite a week filled with rainy weather and postponements, Delbarton's sub-varsity spring sports teams continued to deliver standout performances this week. From dominant baseball outings to close lacrosse battles, the Green Wave continues to show talent and toughness at every level.
JV Baseball: Headlines Big Week
JV Baseball put together an explosive week, going 2-0 with back-to-back wins over Morris Knolls—10-6 on April 9 and a historic 23-0 shutout on April 10. The highlight of the week (and perhaps the season so far) came courtesy of Ted Masino, who not only hit for the cycle in Thursday's win, going 4-for-5 with a towering 380-foot grand slam, he also pitched five shutout innings, allowing no hits and just one walk, striking out six, for his first no hitter of the season! On the year, he's batting .700 with 9 RBIs.
Masino wasn't the only standout. Anthony Caruso drove in 8 RBIs this week, Dylan Temple stole 6 bases, and Carter Willis added 7 RBIs. On the mound, Ryan Dooley, Henry Bisignano, and Tanner Koss also notched wins, combining to allow just 8 earned runs over four games.
Freshman Baseball
Freshman Baseball also swept their two-game set against Roxbury with commanding wins—12-2 on April 9 and 19-1 on April 10. Evan Johnson was electric on the mound Wednesday, tossing four innings with eight strikeouts and allowing just one earned run. Offensively, Parker Klug added 3 RBIs.
In Thursday's big win, Delbarton tallied 15 hits, with Loghan Romain going 2-for-2 and driving in three. Klug and Alexander Checchio teamed up on the mound, combining for a one-hit, seven-strikeout performance over four innings.
JV Lacrosse
JV Lacrosse split their week, falling 9-6 to St. Anthony's on Saturday before bouncing back with a commanding 7-1 win over Bergen Catholic. Kane Quenault stood out at the faceoff X and added 4 goals across the two games. Matthew Good chipped in 3 goals, while Ben Migliaccio, Brody Cozic, and Will Plank each netted 2 for the Green Wave.
Freshman Lacrosse
The Freshman Lacrosse squad took a close 7-4 loss to St. Anthony's, but the team is ready to regroup as they take on Seton Hall Prep in West Orange this Saturday. Michael Giordano leads the team in points with 8, thanks to 6 goals already this year. Nick Pallone is 75% at the faceoff X and Luca Zuena has been solid in net with a 54% save percentage.
Middle School Lacrosse
Middle School Lacrosse split their week 1-1, routing Pingry 16-1 before a close 8-6 loss to Kumpf. RJ Readlinger and Graydon Dziadzio played key roles in the dominant win over Pingry, showcasing their talent on both ends of the field.
JV Tennis
JV Tennis added another win to their undefeated season, topping Chatham 4-1 on Tuesday to continue their early-season dominance. The team is currently 4-0, with a big match on the horizon against Ridge.
Middle School Tennis: First Doubles Win of the Season
Middle School Tennis took two tough losses to Pingry this week—0-5 on Tuesday and 1-4 on Thursday—but celebrated a major milestone with their first doubles win of the season. Twins Aiden Paul and Aaron Paul rolled to an 8-0 victory, showing the promise of a strong season ahead.
Middle School Baseball: Battling Weather and Competing Hard
Rain continued to disrupt the Middle School Baseball schedule, but the team got back on the field for a hard-fought 2-1 loss to Pingry on April 10. Despite the result, Dilan Sharma delivered an outstanding performance on the mound, keeping the game tight and giving his team a chance to win. Earlier in the season, the team fell to Eisenhower on April 3 (10-0), and a second game was rained out.
