Track and Field Earns Victory Over Morristown

On Tuesday, April 15 the Delbarton Track and Field Team traveled to our neighbors in Morristown for the third NJAC United dual meet of the season.  The team gained some key returners that tipped the scales for a narrow victory 79-61 to push their record to 3-0 on the season.

Sophomore Hans Clovis continued his early season success with three key victories in the 400H (1:07.8), 400m (52.2), and the 200m (24.8) despite strong winds on the day.

Senior Peter Donini took on longtime talented rivals from Morristown and came out with victories in both the shot put (60'10) and the discus (146').  Junior Martin Hindelong also defeated some of the best high jumpers in Morris County with a season PR of 6'2.  Junior Aidan Ponzio won the 110m Hurdles into a headwind in 17.8 and also scored big in the long jump and triple jumps.

In their first meet of the season, sophomores Zachary McNeil and Todd Smith competed tough to secure key victories in 100m (11.7) and the 800m (2:09) respectively.  Senior John Cuzzocrea ran a smart race to ensure victory in the 1600m as well.  Junior Alexander Makovsky won the pole vault in windy conditions.

Senior Johnathan Flores (Javelin), juniors James Sommer (400H), Dever Hanlon (Pole Vault), Daniel Gallic (110H), Trevor Wyso (Discus and Shot Put), Evan Villoresi (Javelin), Luke Pagano (110H) also scored big points for the team.

Sophomore Matthew Fic (3200m) and freshman Matthew Heyer (800m) scored in competitive distance races for essential team points.

Next up, varsity relay teams travel to Morris Hills on Saturday before the full team completes the dual meet season at Montville on Monday.  Go Green Wave!
