The last two weekends, the Green Wave Track and Field team traveled to highly competitive local invitationals; the Westfield Blue Devil Classic and The Morris Hills Relays.
The Blue Devil Classic was a mixture of individual and relay events on a cold and blustery morning. Despite the conditions, senior captain Daniel Gallic threw a new personal best and meet-leading throw in the javelin at 160'2.
In the 800m, juniors Joshua Akakpo and Hans Clovis went wire-to-wire for second and third in 2:01.31 and 2:01.54 respectively.
In the long jump, senior captain Aidan Ponzio placed fifth overall at 20'8.
The following weekend, the team took on heat and direct sun in completely opposite conditions. Senior captain Martin Hindelong tied his personal best to finish in second place at 6'2, with nine athletes going over 6' at the meet.
The pole vault relay of senior captain Dever Hanlon, Alex Makovsky, and Brendan Martin placed fourth overall, led by Hanlon's personal-best 11'6 clearance.
Daniel Gallic placed fourth overall in the javelin competition, taking on some of the best throwers in the state.
