Delbarton Track and Field Wraps Up Season at Meet of Champions

In the final meet of the season, two Delbarton track and field athletes traveled to Pennsauken High School for the New Jersey Meet of Champions.  In battles with the top athletes across all school sizes and regions, senior Peter Donini and junior Martin Hindelong represented Delbarton School at the highest level.  Hindelong qualified in the high jump and chose to reach for a personal best in his opening height to give himself the best chance to succeed.  Though he did not end up on the podium, he gained amazing experience for next year! Congratulations on a great season Marty!

Peter Donini qualified in both the shot put and the discus, having won the discus and placed 2nd in the shot put at the Non-Public A State Championships.  He took on the same challengers plus additional throwers who are national caliber.  Both winners chose to focus on only one event to give themselves the best chance to win, while Peter competed in both events.  Peter finished with two silver medals with throws of 62'11.25 in the shot put and a personal best 184'6 in the discus.  Peter put himself in a position to win both titles holding the lead in both and moving his way up through the finals.  Peter in the reigning national champion in the shot put from the indoor season and will travel to the University of Pennsylvania for the New Balance National meet to take on the best throwers in the country.  Congratulations Peter and good luck at Nationals!
