The Green Wave moved to 9-3 on the season on Wednesday, defeating Randolph 6-2 in Randolph. Delbarton pitchers only allowed 2 hits, while striking out a combined 10 hitters.
The Green Wave scored in three straight innings to open with a 4-0 lead.
Lorenzo Maselli singled to center, followed by a
Miles Handy single to right.
Finnian O'Loughlin would drive both runners in with a single to right field, for a 2-0 lead. Delbarton added another in the second as
Matt Tafuri hit a sac fly, scoring
Curt Friedrich who had reached on an error earlier in the inning.
Ryan Holman made it 4-0 in the 3rd with a hard single to left, scoring Maselli.
Randolph would get on the board in the bottom of the 5th, scoring on a sac fly and a single to cut the Delbarton lead to 4-2. However, the Green Wave would add 2 more insurance runs back in the top of the 6th when
Miles Handy hit a 2-run single to left, scoring
Brandon Kim and
Matt Tafuri.
Wesley Gabriel would pitch the final 2 innings, allowing 0 hits, striking out 3 to close out the game. Starter
Kyle McBride struggled with command, but still threw 3.2 innings of shutout baseball, walking 5 but striking out 7. Handy and Maselli both had 2 hits, while O'Loughlin finished with 2 RBI.
Brandon Kim went 2-3, while Holman finished 1-4 with an RBI.
