Varsity Lacrosse Improves to 10-1, Defeats Montclair 10-3

The Green Wave opened another long regular season road trip on Wednesday, defeating Montclair 10-3 for their 10th win of the season.

Will Pedicano opened the scoring in the first, scoring off a feed from Andrew Johnson for the 1-0 lead.  Jared Baudin got on the board shortly after with a no doubter for the 2-0 Delbarton lead.  Montclair would score with under ninety seconds to go in the first, cutting the lead to 2-1.

In the second, Chase Houser scored with the man advantage, off a beautiful feed from Alex Schobel to make it 3-1 Delbarton.  Peter Falk followed up with a pump fake shot and score from the left side of the goalie to give Delbarton a 3 goal advantage, leading 4-1 in the second.  Montclair did not give up easily, winning the ensuing faceoff and taking it the entire way for a goal, cutting the lead to 4-2, which would stay that way at the half.

The second half has belonged to the Green Wave all season long, and yesterday was no different.  Opening the third quarter, Andrew Johnson got on the board with a goal of his own, making it 5-2.  With 4:04 left in the third, Baudin scored his second on a beautiful dodge for the 6-2 lead.  The Lancers again responded, cutting the lead to 6-3, but that was all they would score the rest of the afternoon as Tanner Shimko would shut down the offensive attack the rest of the game.  Peter Falk scored again, this time in front of the net for his second of the game, at 9:54 left in the 4th, for the 7-3 lead.  Alex Schobel scored his first of the game with 5:57 left in the fourth, for the 8-3 lead.  Schobel made it two-in-a-row at 4:17 for the 9-3 lead and Asher Testa capped off the scoring with his first of the game with 3:40 left for the 10-3 advantage.

Schobel, Baudin and Falk all finished with 2 goals each, while Schobel, Brandon Fodor and Falk each had 3 point games.  At the faceoff X, Phil Minardo went a perfect 6/6, while Christian Troczynski won 5 of 6 faceoffs for Delbarton and Kane Quenault finished winning 5 of 6 faceoffs, a big reason why Delbarton was able to keep Montclair off the scoreboard for much of the game.  In net, Tanner Shimko made 8 saves while allowing just 3 goals in the victory.

Delbarton now turns its attention to national powerhouse Chaminade.  The Green Wave head to Long Island this Saturday for their final out-of-state matchup.
