The Green Wave opened a home and home series with Pope John on Monday, defeating the Lions 14-1 in five innings.  The team collected 14 hits and allowed just one hit over 5 innings.  Six players had 2 hits each in the game, and Green Wave pitchers combined for a one-hitter with 3 strikeouts.

Delbarton led 6-0 after the top of the first thanks to an RBI single by Miles Handy, driving in Matt Tafuri.  Ryan Holman followed with a single to score Lorenzo Maselli who had walked earlier in the inning.  Danny Haggard was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded for the 3-0 lead and newcomer Ted Masino singled to center scoring two runs.  Up 5-0, Haggard scored on a wild pitch, finishing off a 6-0 inning.  Pope John would get a two-out homerun off starter Curt Friedrich, but that would be all they would get the rest of the game.  

In the top of the third, Masino got his second hit of the afternoon, lacing a double to center, scoring Haggard to had doubled to left.  With a 7-1 lead, Delbarton put the game away for good in the top of the 4th, plating another 6 runs for a 13-1 lead.  Haggard singled in Handy, Brandon Kim singled to left scoring two and Sal Garcia drove in Masino with an RBI single for a 12-1 lead.  Maselli singled in Tafuri for the 13-1 lead.  Brandon Kim would get his second RBI in the top of the 5th, driving in Finnian O'Loughlin for the 14-1 lead.  Wesley Gabriel once again came on in relief, throwing 2.1 perfect innings in relief.  Friedrich finished 2.2 innings, allowing one run on one hit, walking one and striking out 3.

Delbarton hosts Pope John on Wednesday before facing West Morris in the Morris County Tournament final on Friday at 7pm from Montville.
