Green Wave Teams Battle Weather, Keep Momentum Rolling

Another rain-soaked week didn't stop Delbarton's sub-varsity teams from making headlines with clutch wins, standout performances, and hosting one of the most prestigious JV tournaments in the state...and the only one!

JV Tennis didn't compete in regular matches this week, but played host to New Jersey's only JV tennis tournament—featuring Delbarton, Livingston, Ridge, and Pingry. The flight-style tournament saw Pingry take the overall title with victories at 1st, 3rd, and 4th doubles, while Delbarton earned a strong 2nd-place finish. The Green Wave claimed victories at 2nd and 5th doubles, with Colin Reilly and Nei Zacharia stepping in off the bench to win the 5th doubles final in a great team moment.

JV Baseball kept rolling with an 11-0 shutout of Pope John on Monday before their Wednesday rematch was rained out. Carter Willis went 3-for-4 at the plate, including a home run, to lead the offense in the lopsided win.

Freshman Baseball picked up a big 2-1 win over Ridge on Monday before the Ridgewood game was canceled due to rain. In the Ridge win, Jayden Dagner stayed hot at the plate, going 2-for-3, while James Gaven drove in the game's only RBI. On the mound, Austin Kiely was dominant—allowing just one hit over four innings and striking out eight.

Freshman Lacrosse delivered two impressive wins this week—defeating Bergen Catholic 14-4 on Tuesday and Chatham 16-3 on Wednesday in a rainy showdown at Ryan Field. All-around team play powered the victories, with Jack Rende, Mike Giordano, and Nick Pallone standing out for coach Murphy.

JV Lacrosse saw Tuesday's match against Don Bosco canceled, but bounced back with a gritty 9-4 win over Chatham in soggy conditions on Wednesday. The team continues to show poise and resilience no matter the weather.  Matthew Good scored 3 goals and an assist, while Brody Cozic and Brendan Sommer had 2 goals a piece in the victory.  Jesse DeNegri won 10/16 from faceoff x in the win.

JV Golf remained perfect on the year at 8-0, defeating Blair 161-168 on Monday and Morristown 149-192 later in the week. Axel Brandes led the way at Blair with a 35, while Jack Winters fired a sensational 34 against Morristown. The team is widely regarded as the best JV golf squad in New Jersey right now.

Middle School Baseball earned a 10-4 win at home over Dover Middle School behind a solid pitching effort from Brandon Brucato and clutch hitting from Maxwell Cuzzocrea. The team's second game of the week vs. Briarcliff was canceled due to rain.

Middle School Lacrosse advanced to the GMCJSCA Lacrosse Tournament Final with a dominant 15-4 win over Frelinghuysen. The Green Wave will host Heritage Middle School in the championship on Monday at 4:15 PM on Ryan Family Field. RJ Readlinger played a physical two-way game, scoring three goals and delivering several key caused turnovers—including a full-field strip and score. Goalie Graydon Dziadzio had 10+ saves and was excellent in transition with crisp clears to spark fast breaks.

Middle School Tennis dropped its only match of the week 5-0 to a tough MKA squad. Despite the loss, Ryan Palombi, Charlie Coughlin, and Finlay White were standouts with their effort and competitive play. Wednesday's match vs. Newark Academy was rained out.
