Delbarton Lacrosse celebrated its seniors on Thursday after a 15-6 MCT quarterfinal win over Jefferson at Cocoziello Field.
The Green Wave started a bit sloppy, but opened the first quarter with a 6-4 lead, despite opening the game down 2-0. The team regrouped and despite the absence of many starters due to injury, put together a big third quarter to put the Falcons away.
Jared Baudin scored in the first to get Delbarton on the board, followed by
Andrew Johnson for the 2-2 score. Trailing 3-2,
Brandon Fodor gave Delbarton a 3-2 lead, and they never looked back.
Asher Testa and
Will Pedicano scored back to back for a 5-3 lead and
Alex Schobel made it 6-3 before Jefferson scored before the first quarter horn for the 6-4 first quarter lead.
Peter Falk opened the second with this first goal, giving Delbarton a 7-4 lead. Jefferson scored once in the quarter and the teams went to the break with a 7-5 score.
Delbarton broke the game open with an 8-0 run in the third quarter.
Asher Testa scored his second of the game, followed by goals by Falk twice,
Gavin Romweber, a long stick goal by
Will Donahue,
David Rodriguez,
Jared Baudin (2nd), Falk (3rd). The Falcons got one back on the board for a 15-6 Delbarton lead. Neither team would score in the final frame, finishing with a 15-6 victory for the Green Wave.
Falk led scorers with 4 goals and 2 assists for another 6 point game. Testa and Baudin scored 2 each. In faceoffs, Delbarton dominated with
Kane Quenault,
Christian Troczynski and Phil Minardo winning a combined 18 faceoffs.
Tanner Shimko and Finn McGurie combined for the win, with 6 saves together.
The Green Wave will face West Morris on Saturdy in the tournament semifinal at 2pm from Chatham High School.
