Delbarton Lacrosse Advances to Non Public A Semifinal

The Green Wave defeated Pingry on Tuesday 9-7 to advance to the Non Public Semifinal round on Friday.  The Green Wave put plenty of shots on net, but both goalies made big saves in big moments with Delbarton narrowly coming out with the victory over a very tough Pingry squad.

Asher Testa opened the scoring in the first to make it 1-0.  Peter Falk doubled the lead to give Delbarton a 2-0 lead, then Will Pedicano followed up off a false start on the faceoff to give Delbarton a fast 3-0 lead. Pingry answered back in the end of the first, but Delbarton finished the quarter leading 3-1.

In the second, Pingry scored to open the quarter and cut the lead to 3-2.  However, Gavin Romweber netted his first of the game, giving Delbarton its 2-goal lead back, 4-2.  Alex Schobel ripped a big goal to make it 5-2 in the second before Pingry scored to cut the lead back to 5-3.  With only seconds remaining in the first half, Pingry scored once more, giving the Green Wave a slight 5-4 lead at the half.

In the third Falk scored his second of the game to make it 6-4, Romweber got back on the board with another goal for the 7-4 lead.  Pingry answered back as they did all game long, but Romweber's third goal of the game gave Delbarton back it's 3 goal lead, 8-5.  The Big Blue scored two straight to end the third, bringing them within one goal at 8-7, but the Green Wave defense came up big in the fourth.  Brandon Fodor scored a huge insurance goal for a 9-7 lead which would stay through the end of the game.

Romweber finished with 5 points on teh afternoon, while Tanner Shimko made 6 saves.  The faceoff x was a huge advantage for Delbarton with Phil Minardo a perfect 7/7, Kane Quenault 5/6 and Christian Troczynski 6/8.

Delbarton will now face Don Bosco in the Non Public A Semifinal.  Date and time TBD.
