Delbarton closed out its trip to Cary, North Carolina in emphatic fashion on March 28, rolling to a 12-1 victory over Edmond Memorial (OK) to finish the National High School Invitational at 2-2.
After conceding a run in the top of the first, the Green Wave wasted no time responding. Delbarton answered immediately and then steadily built separation, scoring in each of the next four innings before breaking the game open with a six-run fifth.
The offensive breakout was led by a huge day from Finnian O'Loughlin, who drove in six runs, highlighted by a grand slam that capped the decisive fifth inning. O'Loughlin finished 2-for-3 with a home run and six RBI, powering a lineup that consistently applied pressure.
Sal Garcia sparked the offense as well, reaching base three times and scoring three runs while adding two RBI. Danny Haggard contributed a pair of runs and an RBI, while Ethan Yerow and Curt Friedrich each chipped in with hits as part of a balanced attack. In total, Delbarton plated 12 runs on eight hits, drawing five walks and taking advantage of four hit-by-pitches and five Edmond Memorial errors.
On the mound, Ted Masino delivered a strong outing to earn the win. The right-hander tossed five innings, allowing just three hits and one run while striking out six and walking one. After the opening frame, Masino settled in and kept Edmond Memorial off balance, allowing the offense to take control.
The victory capped a competitive week against some of the nation's top programs, with the Green Wave showing both resilience and offensive firepower throughout the tournament.
